Two individuals released from quarantine after completing incubation period for COVID-19

Ministry of Health has announced two individuals who were quarantined in Maldives to confirm the presence of coronavirus (COVID-19) have been released.

The health ministry had previously confirmed the two individuals quarantined in Farukolhufushi had tested negative for the virus. However, they were kept in quarantine until the end of the 14-day incubation period which is required for people who had travelled to an affected region in China recently, in accordance to the guidelines of World Health Organisation (WHO).

A total of three individuals had been quarantined in Maldives to test for the virus. While two of them have now been released, the other individual will remain quarantined until the 14-day period is completed.

The administration has been taking stringent measures to prevent an outbreak of coronavirus in Maldives. As such, thermal screening facilities have been established in all main airports and seaports of the country. The health ministry has also questioned 20 different individuals to check for symptoms of the virus since February 3. However, no symptoms were found on any of them.
