State receives over USD 4.4 million as ADF in January

The state has received USD 4.47 million as Airport Development Fee (ADF) in January 2020.

The statistics publicised by Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) showed the amount received as ADF increased by 12% in January compared to January 2019. The amount totals to 3.8% of the total income received by the state in January.

ADF is levied on passengers departing from Velana International Airport (VIA) at a rate of USD 25 per foreign passenger and USD 12 per Maldivian passenger. Only passengers with diplomatic immunity are exempt from ADF.

Maldives began collecting ADF in May 2017 to boost state revenue.
