Seven Maldivians quarantined in India to be released

Ministry of Foreign Affairs has revealed the 7 Maldivians quarantined in India following their evacuation from the Chinese city of Wuhan will be released today after the isolation period. No symptoms of the virus have been reported during the quarantine period.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has stated the Maldivians have no harm in mingling with families since they have been tested for the virus and the incubation period has passed. According to the foreign ministry, they will be brought to Maldives once they are released from the quarantine facility.

A Maldivian man, a child and five women have been kept at a quarantine facility located outside New Delhi, along with 323 Indians evacuated from Wuhan. They were evacuated from China on February 2. Following their transfer to the quarantine facility, Minister of Defence Mariya Ahmed Didi said they all tested negative for the virus and thanked the government of India for the assistance in evacuating the Maldivians.

Although 50 Maldivians live in China, only 7 from the 9 living in Wuhan City requested for an evacuation. The administration also provided financial assistance to all Maldivians living in Wuhan City.
