Maldives Immigration has revealed the number of cargo arrivals in Maldives decreased in January 2020.
The statistics published by Maldives Immigration showed 60 cargo vessels arrived in Maldives in January, out of which 51 vessels arrived in Male' City, while the remaining 9 vessels arrived at different regional ports. The figure is a decrease compared to the arrivals in December last year, when 68 cargo vessels arrived in Maldives.
With the decrease in the arrival of cargo vessels, the amount received as import and export duty fees also decreased in January. According to Maldives Customs Service, the amount received as import and export duty decreased 10% in January 2020, compared to the same period of last year.
The statistics of Immigration showed that 15 tourist vessels arrived in Maldives last month, which includes cruise liners and yachts. The statistics showed that 3,793 tourists arrived in Maldives by sea.
