Committee approves Government's terminal award proposal

Parliamentary Committee on Public Accounts has approved the proposal to award a share of the newly developed seaplane terminal to Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA).

All parliamentarians present at the committee voted in favour of the proposal of the government to award 6,000 square feet to TMA at a rate of USD 10.35 per square foot.

Speaking at the committee, Minister of Finance Ibrahim Ameer said it was the decision of the former administration to award 31,000 square feet to TMA from the new terminal, adding the current administration changed the decision after it assumed power. He said the administration reversed the decision considering the income it could generate if it were not awarded to TMA.

The finance minister said the administration will honour the proposal. He expressed TMA has no loss in accepting the proposal of the administration.
