Firefighting vehicles donated by Japan handed over to MNDF

Ambassador of Japan to Maldives Keiko Yanai has handed over firefighting vehicles donated by the Government of Japan to Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).

At a ceremony held in Male' Fire Station, Minister of Defence Mariya Ahmed Didi received the equipment on behalf of MNDF. The vehicles donated under the non-project grant assistance of the Government of Japan is aimed at increasing disaster management capacity of Maldives. The equipment worth USD 84,164 includes fire engines, three breathing apparatus sets and one thermal imaging camera.

The donation is part of agreement signed on February 19, 2019 between National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) with the Government of Japan. Senior officials from NDMA and the Japanese delegation participated in the function.
