Minister of Environment Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan has visited some islands of Vaavu Atoll.
The environment minister visited Fulidhoo, Thinadhoo, Rakeedhoo and Keyodhoo in Vaavu Atoll to monitor the environmental situation of the islands. During the visits, the minister met with the island councils and inquired about the environment challenges faced by the islands. In this regard, local councils highlighted soil erosion issues faced by the islands.
The minister was accompanied by a technical team of the environment ministry. The team, with the minister and relevant authorities from the islands, discussed sustainable solutions for the environmental issues. Furthermore, urgent measures which needs to be imposed were also discussed during the meetings.
The minister also monitored the waste management procedures of the islands.
