HPA advises against non-essential travel during mid-term school holidays

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has advised against non-essential travel during the mid-term school holidays which begins tomorrow.

HPA issued a statement today urging the public against non-essential travel during the holidays due to the fast spread of COVID-19 in the world. The agency also urged all travelers to check the situation of COVID-19 in the country they are travelling to and to conform to the safety measures and guidelines set by the country against the spread of COVID-19. The agency added it is highly inadvisable for elderly citizens and people with chronic illnesses to travel, unless it is absolutely necessary.

In the statement, HPA urged all travelers to maintain proper hand hygiene and to stay away from people showing symptoms of flu. The agency also stated any individual who begins to show flu symptoms within 14 days after coming back from a foreign country to immediately contact the health authorities and share their travel history.

COVID-19 has been rapidly spreading across the world, with over 96,000 cases reported worldwide thus far.
