President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has held discussions with relevant stakeholders following the confirmation of the first cases of COVID-19 in Maldives. The meeting was held with some cabinet ministers, senior officials of the President's Office, government agencies and health officials.
Discussions at the meeting were focused on the new measures enacted across the country, following the raising of the risk level to Yellow, prompted by the confirmation of two cases of the disease in Maldives. Yellow Level entails screening people exiting islands, contact tracing, isolation of cases and quarantining of close contacts, home isolation, public awareness and providing psycho-social support to families.
Speaking at the meeting, President Solih urged all relevant stakeholders to be vigilant in ensuring the safety of the public, foreigners, and all visitors. He further urged authorities to be more forthcoming in keeping the public informed of all developments related to COVID-19, and their safety and security.
