Arrangements made to permanently test for COVID-19 in Maldives

Maldives has made arrangements to permanently conduct COVID-19 tests.

Speaking at a press conference, Minister of Health Abdulla Ameen revealed arrangements to conduct COVID-19 tests permanently have been made at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH). He said a total of 24 samples has been tested in Maldives, while 6 individuals were tested positive.

Facilities to test for COVID-19 in Maldives were established on February 20. With the assistance of World Health Organisation (WHO), 1,000 testing kits were brought to IGMH. The result of the tests done in Maldives can be received within 12-24 hours.
