COVID-19 cases in Maldives rises to 6

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed 2 more individuals have tested positive for COVID-19 in Maldives.

Therefore, the total number of people infected with the deadly COVID-19 in Maldives has increased to 6, according to HPA. The agency said 2 foreign nationals from Kuredu Island Resort have tested positive, with the total number of infected individuals from the resort in Lhaviyani Atoll rising to 4, who are all foreign nationals. The other2 individuals, also foreign nationals, are from Sandies Bathala Island Resort.

The first cases of COVID-19 were reported from individuals based in Kuredu, which has since been kept in complete lockdown. HPA noted the situation of Kuredu Island Resort and Sandies Bathalaa Resort is being closely monitored, while inbound and outbound travels to the islands have been restricted. Currently, there are 699 tourists, 270 Maldivian employees and 470 foreign employees in the resort, of which 90 people have been kept in isolation.
