National Emergency Operation Centre has revealed the Italian tourist who was tested positive for COVID-19 had visited two areas in Male’ before he returned to Italy.
Speaking at a press conference held today, Spokesperson on COVID-19, Under Secretary at President's Office Mohamed Mabrook Abdul Azeez, stated the contact tracing of the tourist has revealed he had consulted a doctor in Kuredu Island Resort after contracting a fever. The spokesperson said the tourist visited Male’ before returning to Italy, visiting Maagiri Hotel and the ticketing office of Universal Enterprises. Mabrook revealed 15 employees of Maaigiri Hotel have been placed in room isolation, although none of them have shown any symptoms. However, he revealed the person who came into contact with the tourist in Universal office has been transported to the quarantine facility in Farukolhufushi after showing symptoms of the virus.
Speaking further, the spokesperson said 7 more individuals have been placed in isolation in relation to the case. He also revealed the administration has decided to take action on the parties that failed to undertake their responsibilities and allowed the tourist to leave the country while showing symptoms of the virus.
