Health Protection Agency (HPA) has temporarily locked down an additional three resorts after individuals showing symptoms of COVID-19 were found in the resorts.
HPA revealed a Maldivian national working in Vilamendhoo Island Resort who developed symptoms of COVID-19 is being transferred to an isolation facility for further monitoring and testing. HPA also revealed a foreign national in Kuramathi Island Resort, who developed symptoms like COVID-19 is being transferred to an isolation facility for further monitoring and testing. Later today, HPA announced the lockdown of One and Only Reethirah Resort after a foreign national in the resort presented symptoms of COVID-19.
HPA announced contact tracing will be conducted for all the suspected cases while the resorts are kept in temporary lockdown. With the lockdown of three resorts today, the total number of resorts under lockdown in Maldives has risen to five.
A foreign nationals have been tested positive to COVID-19 in Maldives, according to HPA. Meanwhile, HPA revealed samples collected from 2 individuals suspected of COVID-19 have been tested as negative. HPA added the samples include the persons brought under isolation from the ticketing office of Universal Travel Services and Foakaidhoo, Shaviyani Atoll.
Currently, 15 individuals are kept in Farukolhufushi isolation facility and 11 individuals are kept in Vilivaru isolation facility.
