Health Protection Agency (HPA) has stated two Maldivians who traveled from China have been released after completing the 14-day incubation period for COVID-19.
The two individuals had earlier been tested negative for the virus. However, they were kept in quarantine until the end of the incubation period, as per HPA protocols. The protocol states quarantined patients would be released after 14 days if they shows no symptoms of COVID-19 and tests negative for the virus.
Entry to Maldives from mainland China has been temporarily banned following the outbreak of the virus, which is believed to have originated from Wuhan, China. Maldivians travelling from China are quarantined for a 14 day period under the protocols followed as a safety precaution against COVID-19.
