National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) has mandated all tourists travelling to Maldives to present a 14-day travel history before entering the country. The security of all ports has been increased due to confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Maldives.
Speaking at a press conference, Spokesperson of NEOC, Under Secretary at President's Office, Mohamed Mabrook Abdul Azeez said all tourists must now fill a health declaration form given by Maldives Immigration and the card must be submitted before they enter the country. Mabrook said the visitors must indicate the countries they have visited recently and these will be used to evaluate if they had travelled to a high-risk area.
All ports have thermal cameras installed as part of the efforts to contain COVID-19 in Maldives. Additional testing mechanisms have also been set up in the airports. If visitors have high fever, they will be sent to the medical facility established in the airport and doctors will decide if the visitors must go to isolation.
