Public transport operators in Maldives have begun deep-cleaning and disinfecting vehicles in order to reduce the risk of COVID-19.
The two major bus operators Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) and Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) stated the companies are disinfecting and deep-cleaning vehicles used for public transportation as a precautionary measure against COVID-19.
MTCC further stated vehicles used for public transport are disinfected and sanitised on a daily basis. The company revealed all airport buses, private hire cars and Hulhumale buses undergo the routine disinfection process. Additionally, MPL stated buses used to cross the Sinamale’ Bridge are also disinfected and sanitised daily.
Bus operators have requested customers to pay attention towards public cleanliness as thousands of people use public transport to travel between Male’, Hulhumale and Hulhule every day.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has provided information and instructions through Health Protection Agency (HPA) to MTCC, MPL and taxi service centers on the safety precautions to be taken against COVID-19.
