Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced the child from One&Only Reethi Rah and the adult from Vilamendhoo Island Resort and Spa have tested negative for COVID-19. Following the results, HPA has lifted the temporary restriction enacted on the two resorts.
HPA further said it has finished contact tracing of the quarantined child from Reethi Rah. Following the decision, only Kuredu Island Resort and Spa, Sandies Bathala Resort and Kuramathi Maldives are currently under lockdown.
HPA has informed two foreigners with symptoms for COVID-19 have been isolated and will be tested. The two foreigners who had developed symptoms are close contacts of the two individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 from Sandies Bathala.
A further two Maldivians who had developed symptoms were tested negative for the virus. A total of 80 have been tested for the virus so far, of which 71 have tested negative.
All 8 individuals who have been tested positive for COVID-19 are foreigners. As reactive and proactive measures have been increased, Maldives has also quarantined two Maldivians who have returned from Rome, Italy for a period of 14 days. Maldives has temporarily suspended direct and transit flights from Italy.
However, Maldivians who are returning from Italy will be permitted to enter subject to quarantined. A Maldivian who was isolated upon return from Italy had tested negative for the virus.
