National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) has stated Maldivians returning from Umrah pilgrimage will be screened and sent to room isolation.
Speaking to the media, NEOC spokesperson, Under Secretary at President's Office Mohamed Mabrook Abdul Azeez stated the center has been regularly checking the health conditions of Maldivian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia. In this regard, he stated the center has been contacting the Umrah groups and acquiring information through group doctors.
The spokesperson further additionally stated the individuals returning from Umrah will be screened at the airport and sent to room isolation. He added the pilgrims and their family members would be required to seek medical attention from the travel clinic if they begin to develop any symptoms after their return. The travel clinic is established to treat travelers with COVID-19 symptoms. Mabrook stated individuals traveling from countries where COVID-19 cases were reported will be quarantined or put in isolation according to the severity of the case.
Pilgrims of Nawa Hajj and Umrah Private Limited returned to Maldives after completion of the pilgrimage. Maldivians are returning at a time Saudi Arabia is strengthening precautionary measures against COVID-19, after positive cases were found in the country.
