Land reclamation completed in one of the three islands to be developed by Centara

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has revealed the reclamation of the first island of the new resort to be developed by Centara Hotels and Resorts has been completed.

Centara, which currently operates four resorts in Maldives, is developing a new resort after reclaiming three islands from a lagoon located in Male’ Atoll. The land reclamation project was contracted to MTCC in October 2019. Under the contract, a 21-hectares of land will be reclaimed, followed by shore protection work. The project was contracted to be completed within 300 days.

MTCC reported land reclamation of one of the three islands has been completed. The company stated it is currently conducting shore protection work on the reclaimed island.

The contract to reclaim three islands for the development of Centara’s new resort was signed at a special function held the head office of Centara in Bangkok, Thailand on October 8, 2019.
