Ministry of Education has begun preparations to implement e-learning for a situation where schools could be closed due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Spokesperson of National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC), Under-Secretary at the President’s Office Mohamed Mabrouq Azeez stated the administration has been taking measures in every sector to prepare for an emergency situation caused by COVID-19. In this regard, he stated schools are being closed for an extra week after the mid-term holidays, while the education ministry is preparing to implement e-learning in a situation where schools could be closed for an extended period of time.
The ministry has contracted the development of an e-learning software to a private company. The software will provide a platform for students and teachers to exchange documents related to lessons on a daily basis, allowing students to complete their lessons while staying home.
