The government of Maldives has decided to postpone the reopening of schools for a week due to COVID-19 epidemic.
Schools were scheduled to reopen on March 15, after mid-term holidays. However, the administration has decided to close the schools for an additional week to further monitor the condition. The administration has further stated it will make a decision on reopening schools after evaluation of new developments and protective measures have been taken.
Spokesperson of National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC), Under Secretary at President's Office Mohamed Mabrouq Azeez, said the administration is making arrangements to deliver the lessons digitally, online or via broadcast medium in case the schools need to be closed.
