India extends assistance to Maldives in the efforts against the spread of COVID-19

The Government of India has decided to send a fourteen member medical team to support the Maldives health services in the efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Maldives.

India decided to send the medical team to Maldives upon request by the Maldivian government. Additionally, the Indian government has also decided to provide, as grant assistance, three month stock of essential medicines to Maldives, following a request made by the Maldivian government to make a special exemption from the export restrictions placed on medicines by India due to COVID-19.

Following the decision, the government extended its deep appreciation to Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and the Indian government for its timely assistance towards the efforts to counter the spread of COVID-19 in Maldives.
