Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced positive COVID-19 cases rise to 9 in Maldives.
HPA stated the sample taken from a foreign national from Anantara Dhigu Maldives Resort has tested positive for COVID-19. The agency has also identified 11 individuals through contact tracing for isolation and has set monitoring mechanisms in place.
Moreover, HPA is conducting tests of two foreign nationals in Six Senses Laamu after receiving information they had come into contact with a patient who was found positive before their arrival to Maldives. They are both under self-isolation and under monitoring.
Furthermore, a person found to be in close contact with a positive COVID-19 case is being tested from Kuramathi Island Resort. HPA has placed the individual in self-isolation as a precaution. In addition, HPA said samples were taken from a foreign national in OBLU Sangeli Resort for testing, adding monitoring mechanisms are in place until further notice.
HPA noted 10 individuals are isolated in Kuredu Island Resort due to developing COVID-19 like symptoms. Altogether, HPA has taken 91 samples to test for COVID-19, with 9 foreigners found positive for the virus.
The government of Maldives has taken stringent measures to contain the virus. The measures include testing individuals who show symptoms of COVID-19, isolating people who are being tested and closely monitoring resorts with positive cases of the virus.
