Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure has contracted the development of roads in Milandhoo, Shaviyani Atoll and Maamigili, Alifu Dhaalu Atoll to Road Development Corporation (RDC). The contracts were signed by Director General of Planning Ministry Fathimath Shaana Farooq and Managing Director of RDC Moosa Ali Manik.
The ministry said the project in Milandhoo will involve laying asphalt on 8 roads with a combined length of 6.15 kilometres. The project costs USD 10.1 million and is contracted to be completed within 17 months. The ministry added the project in Maamigili involves laying asphalt on 6 roads with a combined length of 4.89 kilometres. While the project costs USD 6.2 million, RDC has been given 400 days to complete the project.
In addition to these two projects, RDC is also undertaking the redevelopment of roads in Male' City, which includes resolving the issues of flooding and lack of parking spaces. The project was contracted to RDC by Male' City Council for USD 29.9 million.
