President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has assured Maldives will welcome cooperative efforts from SAARC countries against COVID-19.
Retweeting a tweet posted by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi proposing the leadership of SAARC nations chalk out a strong strategy to fight COVID-19, President Solih welcomed the proposal by India and expressed gratitude for the initiative.
In the tweet, Prime Minister Modi suggested discussions regarding the situation can be done via video conferencing. In his reply, President Solih assured Maldives will welcome efforts from SAARC countries to curb COVID-19. He expressed collective efforts are needed to overcome COVID-19.
India showed the highest number of positive cases of COVID-19 from South Asian countries. Total COVID-19 positive cases in India are recorded at 83, while two deaths have been confirmed so far.
