Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called on all Maldivians to be more observant in traveling to Nepal.
In a statement, the foreign ministry called on all Maldivians to be more watchful in traveling to Nepal as the government of Nepal announced on arrival visa for all foreigners has been suspended from March 14 until April 30 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. All foreigners traveling to Nepal with a prior valid visa have been instructed to submit a swab test PCR health certificate issued a maximum seven days before arrival to Nepal. Meanwhile, all entries to Nepal are subject to a 14-day self-isolation period.
The foreign ministry cautioned Maldivians residing in Nepal to avoid travel within the country unless necessary, to stay indoors and avoid large gatherings. Additionally, all Maldivians residing in or traveling to Nepal have been advised to register with the ministry and attain travel insurance before traveling.
The government of Maldives has also advised all Maldivians residing in Philippines, Spain, France and the UK to register at the nearest embassy. All Maldivians can register with the ministry via the e-register portal. The ministry further called on all Maldivians to be aware of COVID-19 updates in all the countries in order to stay safe.
