Maldivian, the national airline of Maldives, has placed a temporary travel ban on flights to India's Chennai and Cochin.
Maldivian stated changes are being brought to international flights following the State of Public Health Emergency declared in Maldives due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The airline further stated the last flights to Cochin are scheduled for March 19, 21 and 23, while the last flight to Chennai is scheduled for March 20.
Maldivian, which has scheduled daily flights to Thiruvananthapuram, India, announced the airline will only have scheduled flights on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday under the following restrictions. The airline stated changes brought to the flight schedules will be publicised. Maldivian has also placed a travel restriction on flights to Dhaka, Bangladesh effective from March 20.
Meanwhile, Maldivian has closed down all of its booking offices in an effort to contain the spread of the virus. However, the call centre and Viber services will be available from Sunday to Thursday 1000hrs to 1500hrs.
