Male' City Council has stated it is collecting information of expatriates living in the Greater Male' region.
The city council said the survey is conducted to ease contact tracing in case of a COVID-19 outbreak in Male' City. The council further said information collected regarding expatriates include the location of their living places and the number of people living in a single room. The council added the location of hotels and kitchens used by the expatriates will also be collected and recorded. A 50-member team will be deployed by the council to conduct the surveys.
Additionally, the council stated expatriates living in all districts of Greater Male' region will be surveyed. More than 130,000 expatriates are working in Maldives out of which 100,000 live in Male' City.
