Alibaba announces donations for 10 Asian countries, including Maldives

Founder of Alibaba Jack Ma has announced the decision to donate emergency supplies to 10 Asian countries, including Maldives.

In a tweet, Jack Ma said Alibaba Group is working to deliver emergency supplies to Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Laos, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The emergency supplies include 1.8 million masks, 210,000 test kits, 36,000 protective suits, ventilators and thermometers.

Meanwhile, the World Health Organisation (WHO) appreciated the assistance of Alibaba Group in curbing the COVID-19 pandemic. In a tweet thanking Jack Ma for the efforts to support the world in fighting COVID-19, Director General of WHO Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus welcomed the initiative of the Alibaba Group. Ghebreyesus highlighted the significance of providing vulnerable countries with essential medical supplies, as well as digital solutions for capacity building.
