National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) has revealed two of the three Maldivian students who were tested for COVID-19 in Russia have tested negative.
Providing the latest update on the situation of COVID-19 in Maldives, Spokesperson of NEOC Mohamed Mabrook Azeez said three Maldivian students in Russia were tested for the virus after developing symptoms, adding two of them have tested negative while one result is still pending. He said Ministry of Foreign Affairs is closely monitoring the situation of the three students, noting their quarantine period has been extended to 10 days.
During the press conference, the spokesperson also shared details of the number of people who have visited clinics established in Maldives following the outbreak of COVID-19. In this regard, Mabrouq noted 264 people have visited the flu clinic in Senahiya Hospital, while 325 people have visited the travel clinic in Male' City so far. In addition, he stated 125 people have visited the expatriate clinic in Hulhumale'.
Furthermore, the spokesperson stated information and training have been provided to 95,329 people as part of the efforts of the administration to raise awareness and strengthen the preparation for COVID-19 pandemic. He added 10,000 people have called the hotline set up by Health Protection Agency (HPA) to disseminate information on COVID-19.
In addition, Mabrouq revealed 240,823 people have been screened across all international ports of Maldives, out of which 106 individuals were denied entry. He added a number of Maldivians have been returning from abroad amid the COVID-19 pandemic, noting 97 Maldivians returned on March 19.
