National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) has revealed over 300 Maldivians have arrived back to the country within the past two days.
Speaking at the daily press briefing, Spokesperson for NEOC Mohamed Mabrook Azeez said every individual except tourists, who arrive in Maldives will be required to stay in a quarantine facility allocated by the government for a period of 14-days. He added as a precautionary measure, Maldivians are also quarantined.
Noting 320 Maldivians arrived from abroad within the past two days, Mabrook revealed 528 individuals entered the country as tourists and 71 individuals entered under an employment visa.
Meanwhile, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed all passengers travelling to Maldives by air except for tourists checking-in to resorts will be quarantined for 14-days at a place designated by the government. The agency said all passengers entering the country in all types of visas will be quarantined as a precautionary measure against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Noting the orders shall be given full effect by all authorities and persons concerned, HPA advised everyone to follow the instructions given by all relevant authorities.
