Male' City Council has begun chlorinating and cleaning the roads of the capital city.
The city council launched the chlorinating programme with the cooperation from Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF). The city council stated pallets kept on roads will be removed among other objects as part of the programme.
Speaking at the launching of the programme, Mayor of Male' City Sifa Mohamed appealed to all citizens to keep the city clean and to refrain from dumping waste on the roads. She said it is important to ensure the cleanliness of the surroundings, especially the roads, at a time when health professionals are advising to practice good hygiene and cleanliness to contain the COVID-19 outbreak.
The city council assured no health issues will be faced due to chlorinating the roads. Several measures are being taken in Maldives to ensure COVID-19 does not spread in the country.
