National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) has assured no citizen will be deprived of fundamental necessities amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking at the daily press briefing, Spokesperson of NEOC Mohamed Mabrook Azeez stated the Maldivian economy will inevitably suffer blows amid the pandemic, noting the pandemic has had major implications on the global economy. However, he said the government is working hard to ensure no citizen is deprived of any fundamental necessity, such as food or medicine.
During the press briefing, Mabrook shared details of the current situation of COVID-19 in Maldives. As such, the spokesperson revealed 732 samples have tested for COVID-19 so far, while the number of positive cases remains at 13. He added 8 individuals are currently being treated for COVID-19, as five of the positive cases have made a full recovery.
Furthermore, Mabrook noted 574 people are in quarantine and isolation facilities. He also revealed the call centre has attended to 13,920 calls so far, including 988 calls in the past 24 hours.
