President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has announced government offices will be closed for an additional week from Sunday onwards.
Briefing the local media on the developing situation of COVID-19 in Maldives, President said all actions are taken with the advice and extensive discussions with the health professionals. The president revealed universities, schools and colleges will also be closed for another week.
Initially, schools were scheduled to reopen on March 15, after mid-term holidays. The administration decided to close the schools for a week to further monitor the condition.
The administration has further stated it will make a decision on reopening schools after evaluation of new developments and protective measures have been taken. Online classes and teleclasses were broadcast on TV for students, to enable studying from home.
With the new announcement, government offices, schools, colleges and universities will be closed until April 4.
