President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has announced 3 more COVID-19 patients in Maldives have fully recovered.
Following the recovery of more patients, the total number of active COVID-19 patients in Maldives is 8. Maldives recorded 13 COVID-19 cases, all of whom are foreign nationals.
Speaking to the press, President Solih said technical experts of the health industry will say the foremost word regarding the steps to be taken regarding the COVID-19 situation in Maldives. Briefing the local media on the developing situation of COVID-19 in Maldives, the president acknowledged the works of the health industry in its fight against the pandemic. Noting every action taken from January 6 regarding the COVID-19 is backed by the health professionals, the president maintained the following actions will also be upon advisory and discussions of professionals.
Acknowledging the works of the health professionals, President Solih appealed every citizen to follow the instructions of the relevant authorities. The president hailed the efforts of the National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) operated with collective support from 42 authorities including the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and Health Protection Authority (HPA).
Furthermore, the president also expressed Maldives will also be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic similar to other countries urging everyone to stay home and to avoid going outdoors. Acknowledging the impact on the economy, he underlined works are being done to minimize the impact on citizens.
