National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) has reported a ninth COVID-19 patient in Maldives has made a full recovery.
NEOC stated the ninth recovery was reported from a patient who was being treated at Dharumavantha Hospital. Following the recovery of this patient, the number of active COVID-19 cases in Maldives has dropped to 4.
Furthermore, Spokesperson of NEOC Mohamed Mabrook Azeez said 804 samples have been obtained to test for COVID-19, while the number of positive cases remains at 13. Mabrook said the results of 17 samples are currently pending. Furthermore, he revealed there are 737 individuals in quarantine or isolation facilities across Maldives.
Speaking at the press briefing, Consultant Physician at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) Dr. Moosa Murad said all individuals in quarantine and isolation facilities are being closely monitored, adding they are all generally in good health. He added the patients who were tested positive, including the two Italian tourists who have been quarantined in Dharumavantha Hospital, are also in good condition, noting they have not presented any additional complications.
Furthermore, Dr. Murad said the full recovery of 9 patients who were tested positive is an encouraging sign for the efforts against COVID-19. However, he said Maldives cannot afford to take things easy as the risk posed by COVID-19 continues to grow.
