President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has expressed solidarity with the Maldivian citizens during this difficult time, stating the COVID-19 preventive measures are the same for him and every member of the public.
Speaking at a press conference, President Solih said the ongoing measures to contain COVID-19 have always been taken for the protection and safety of the Maldivian people. The president said he will firmly stay with the people and every measure taken for his protection will also be taken to protect the citizens.
The president said the public will experience challenges in daily life during this grim period of time. He thanked the people for bearing with the strict and very demanding instructions from the authorities.
Appreciating the support the administration has received from the general public in taking measures thus far, President Solih called on the people to continue supporting the authorities by staying indoors and adhering strictly to instructions and advice from healthcare professionals. The president said the government has been putting its best efforts to contain the virus in Maldives and ensure a better situation in the country.
The president remarked the important work health care professionals are rendering to the nations during a very demanding time in a challenging working environment. He added the government cannot win the fight against COVID-19 without the support of the public.
