Addu City Council has nullified the initial circular prohibiting businesses to operate at night.
The city council had issued a circular prohibiting food outlets and other businesses in Addu from operating beyond 1800 hrs. The council stated the order was issued upon the advisory of the Addu City task force of the Health Protection Agency (HPA).
However, HPA stated no council outside the Greater Male' region has been ordered or instructed to change the operating hours of businesses. Following the statement by HPA, Addu City Council has now nullified the initial order and advised businesses to operate between 0600 hours and 1800 hours.
Meanwhile, HPA has urged councils to abide by the instructions given by the regional health taskforces established in respective regions.
