President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appealed all Maldivians to stay indoors and refrain from gathering to public spaces.
Delivering the national address commemorating the 87th anniversary of Maldives Police Service, President Solih appreciated the hard and risky role of police officers in protecting the citizens and the country against the COVID-19 pandemic. The president stated the security of isolation facilities and quarantine facilities are maintained by the police officers, adding they are working in the frontline by putting forth the safety of others and the nation.
Furthermore, President Solih said there are people in the society who are trying to take advantage of the current delicate situation and violate the law, adding however, police officers are working tirelessly to ensure the crime rate does not increase during this difficult time. Reiterating the delicateness of the situation, he called on everyone to exercise social distancing in attempts to return the country to a normal situation.
