Second Maldivian tested positive for COVID-19

A second Maldivian has tested positive for COVID-19.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed a sample taken from a Maldivian who returned from the UK had tested positive for COVID-19. The individual was already in Royal Island Resort completing a 14-day quarantine after returning from the UK as per the protocols. The first Maldivian who tested positive for COVID-19 also returned from the UK and was completing a 14-day quarantine.

A total of 17 individuals have tested positive for COVID-19 in Maldives, including two Italians who tested positive after they had left Maldives. Out of the 17 patients, 13 patients have made full recoveries in Maldives.

There are currently 2 active cases in the country, excluding the two Italians who tested positive after leaving Maldives.
