Health Protection Agency (HPA) has ordered to temporarily close down cinemas and film theaters in the Greater Male' region.
HPA stated cinemas and film theatres should be closed until further notice as a precautionary measure against the COVID-19 pandemic. The agency stated the order was deemed necessary to contain the spread of COVID-19 and to safeguard the public health in Maldives. Director-General of Public Health Maimoona Abubakuru has requested authorities to take legal action against those who violate the order.
Additional measures recently taken by HPA include a temporary suspension of movement between local islands and resorts. HPA has also ordered all spas operating in islands other than resorts to be closed as well.
