Maldives Transport Authority has decided to extend the expiry dates of the Certificate of Competency (COC) permits of Maldivian vessels traveling overseas.
A circular from the authority stated COCs that expire on March 1 may apply for an extension of 6 months from the date of expiry. It further stated the authority has also decided to extend the mandatory refresher courses required for the renewal of COC for 6 months.
Additionally, medical fitness certificates issued to Maldivian seafarers and trading certificates issued to Maldivian flag vessels have also been extended until June 30, this year.
Vessels carrying the Maldivian flag may apply for the extension periods granted via email to Maldives Transport Authority along with relevant documents.
