Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced a fourth Maldivian has tested positive for COVID-19.
HPA stated the local is among individuals who have returned from the UK and placed in Velidhoo Isolation Facility upon their return. This is the 19th individual to test positive for COVID-19 in Maldives and the fourth Maldivian among them.
Maldives reported its first COVID-19 case on March 7 when 2 foreign nationals in Kuredu Island Resort tested positive for the coronavirus. The first Maldivian who tested positive for COVID-19 was a 38-year-old who returned from the UK on March 22. Since then 3 other individuals who had returned from the UK have tested positive for COVID-19.
The first two patients who contracted the coronavirus made full recoveries in Maldives on March 20. Since then, 11 foreign nationals have made full recoveries in various facilities in Maldives.
