Two locals return to Maldives on Tuesday, one self-isolated

National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) has revealed only two Maldivians returned to the country on Tuesday, adding one of them has been isolated after detecting COVID-19 like symptoms.

Spokesperson of NEOC Mohamed Mabrook Azeez said while only two Maldivian arrived in the country on Tuesday, one was sent to Velidu Isolation Facility and the other has been quarantined in Bandos Quarantine Facility. Mabrook said everyone arriving in Maldives will be required to stay in a 14-day quarantine to prevent the coronavirus from spreading in Maldives.

Speaking at the press conference, Mabrook further said Maldives has thus far taken samples from 1,137 individuals of which 1,114 have turned negative for COVID-19. Mabrook added a total of 228 people in the past 24 hours have visited the flu clinics set up in Maldives.

Maldives has seen 19 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 13 individuals making full recoveries. The 4 active cases are currently being monitored and are in stable condition.
