Locals abroad to be brought back by Maldivian if possible

The national carrier, Maldivian, has revealed it is prepared to bring locals in foreign countries back to Maldives given the possibility of doing so.

Speaking on the operations of Maldivian following the situation of COVID-19, Manager, PR and Communications Moosa Waseem said Maldivian is now operating to destinations which were not introduced previously. He said Maldivian did not operate its cargo freighters to some destinations it is flying now.

Waseem said the national airline will use the opportunity to bring back the Maldivians in other countries if the airspaces are opened. He also noted many people carry hand sanitizers to check-in, adding such products are prohibited to be carried on a flight.

Maldivian has also taken precautionary measures to ensure the safety of its staff in the airports during the COVID-19 pandemic.
