Administration will ensure rights of people with autism: President

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has assured the administration remains steadfast in commitment to work to ensure the rights of persons with autism despite the challenging times.

In a tweet posted commemorating the World Autism Day, President Solih noted the autism day this year came at a very challenging time, assuring the administration will work with support organisations and others to ensure the rights of persons despite the challenging times.

Meanwhile, Vice President Faisal Naseem said the government will continue working with relevant authorities to ensure the rights of persons with autism. He also acknowledged the delicate situation of COVID-19 and the challenges which may arise due to the situation.

World Autism Awareness Day is observed by the member states of the United Nations on April 2 to raise public awareness of autism. Several organisations across the world contribute to the diagnosis and treatment of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The theme for World Autism Awareness Day 2020 is The Transition to Adulthood.
