National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) has revealed USD 382,620 was spent on the development of Farukolhufushi Isolation Facility.
Spokesperson of NEOC Mohamed Mabrook Azeez said the development facility was carried in two phases and the total cost of the facility is inclusive of the equipment and machinery.
Farukolhufushi was the first isolation facility to be established in Maldives amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The facility has now been reopened after renovation. The 50-bed facility has been outfitted with two ICU beds, a ventilator, a triage department and a funeral room in case there are any deaths in the facility. The facility has four wards, with two toilets in each ward.
After renovating to solve the power issues in the facility, wards have been installed with televisions and WIFI services. Additionally, outside every ward, hand wash basins have also been fitted.
The facility in Farukolhufushi has been allocated for high-risk patients in order to ease the transfer in case critical cases form the facility needs to be moved to Dharumavantha Hospital. All patients will be transferred to the facility via sea.
