National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) has revealed a total of 73 employees of resorts and safaris who were quarantined as a precautionary measure against COVID-19 have been permitted to leave.
Spokesperson of NEOC Mohamed Mabrook Azeez said the 73 employees from 15 safaris and 9 resorts were granted the permission after they tested negative for COVID-19 following the 14-day quarantine period.
The spokesperson further stated Health Protection Agency (HPA) has collected samples from 187 of the 809 people in quarantine facilities across the country, while HPA is also making arrangements to collect samples from an additional 47 individuals. He said currently there are 12 individuals in isolation.
Providing the statistics on collected samples, Mabrook said 56 of the total 1,573 samples collected are currently pending results and the remaining 1,489 samples tested negative for COVID-19. Additionally, he revealed 5,959 individuals have visited the 23 flu clinics set up across the country.
The spokesperson called on all Maldivians to follow the instructions from the authorities as HPA has enacted the measures for the common good and the safety of the people.
