Maldives Police Service (MPS) has fined an individual for violating the stay at home lockdown order issued by the Director-General of Public Health.
MPS said it fined one of the 139 individuals cautioned while moving about on the streets during the lockdown period of 1700 hours to 2000 hours announced in the Greater Male' region. While 122 Maldivians and 17 foreigners were cautioned to stay indoors during the said hours on Sunday, MPS cautioned 141 individuals on Saturday. A total of 562 individuals who were out on the streets have been advised to stay indoors.
The administration imposed stricter measures in order to curb and contain the spread of COVID-19 in Maldives. The curfew was instructed by the Director-General of Public Health Maimoona Abubakuru under the powers granted by the law.
