Maldives and Japan have held discussions regarding the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
The phone discussions were held by Minister of Foreign of Maldives Abdulla Shahid and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Japan Kenji Wakamiya. During the discussions, Minister Shahid recognised the important role Japan is playing in mobilising global support for vulnerable countries affected by the pandemic.
After Maldives reported its first positive COVID-19 cases, Japan has donated masks and other medical equipment as part of the efforts to fight the deadly coronavirus. Japan has continued assisting the Maldives in various sectors such as education and disaster management.
